I have been in private practice as a counsellor and later as a psychotherapist for 24 years. My experience allows me to offer a flexible approach from short term counselling to in depth psychotherapy, to enable people to explore a variety of issues and concerns. My core training is psychodynamic, but I am open to approaching therapy in the way that feels right to the person or couple that I am working with.
I am an experienced supervisor and offers supervision to counsellors and other people in the helping professions.
I have been practicing mindfulness meditation for 38 years. Over the last 5 years I have been integrating mindfulness into therapy when it has felt appropriate and if the client is interested in this approach. I currently facilitate an 8 week course in Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy with groups, individuals or couples. See below for further details.

Mindfulness is essentially about becoming more aware of whatever you are experiencing, and learning to explore and accept that experience with kindness. It can therefore be a helpful skill for anyone to learn and course participants join for a variety of reasons. Some people are struggling with stress, anxiety or low mood. People from the helping professions often choose to take part in a mindfulness course, for both personal and professional reasons. Research shows that Mindfulness Based Therapies are effective in managing stress and anxiety. MBCT has been also been recommended by NICE as an effective therapy to prevent relapse into depression.
You are very welcome to contact me for further details and discussion. My next 8 week course is planned to start 18 May 2016 and will be held on a Wednesday evening. See www.mbct.co.uk for general information on Mindfulness.
