Profile

Hello and welcome to my counselling profile - I am a qualified and experienced Counsellor as well as being a psychologist.  I work with adults dealing with all kinds of difficulties such as depression, bereavement, abuse, abortion and misacrriage. My experience has been gained in various settings including the N.H.S., voluntary sector and private practice.  I originally trained and qualified as a Clinical Psychologist at University of Surrey 20 years ago and worked in Guildford West Community Mental Health Team with people facing various mental health challenges.  I worked as a childminder for a few years while my children were very young and have completed further training in Integrative Counselling at Guildford College in 2006.

My main training is in Integrative Counselling which means that I use a combination of approaches to suit the needs of the individual client. I place great importance on the counselling relationship and the client's need to be heard.

I feel passionatley about the work that I do, and I never cease to be amazed by the resilience and abiding hope of so called 'ordinary' people. I feel hugely privileged to be in a position to support those who find themselves in very painful and seemingly hopeless situations.  This work can be very hard, but what keeps me so positive about it is the repeated discovery that the concerned and accepting attention of a good counsellor can make a real difference to people and how they feel about their lives.

I worked for RASASC (Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Centre) in Guildford for a number of years and have been able to help many people dealing with the impact of such experiences.

Further Information

Counselling can be a nerve-wracking experience and its very important that you feel comfortable with the counsellor of your choice. For this reason, I offer a very informal first session at a reduced rate to give you the chance to consider all your options.  I am happy to talk to you on the phone at a mutually convenient time to discuss what you may feel you need from counselling.  Its fine if you don't know what you need!  Very often people just have a feeling something isn't right and just need some space to talk it through - that's fine by me.

If you are happier to text me in the first instance, please feel free to do so and I can give you a call at a convenient time.
