About me

Thank you for viewing my profile. As an accredited, fully qualified practitioner and supervisor with over 20 years experience, I offer long or short term counselling and psychotherapy for adults and young people for any emotional or mental health issues such as anxiety, relationship issues, bereavement, abuse, stress, anger management, PTSD and depression. I also provide an employee assistance programme (EAP) for businesses in the area, offering a service supporting workers suffering from stress or other psychological difficulties which can effect attendance and/or performance. I use an integrative approach in my work, including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Mindfulness, meaning that I use skills from my varied training to suit the client's need.
I believe that giving a client the oportunity to share and explore issues with someone who is empathic and non-judgemental can be tremendously empowering, having a significant effect on their ability to cope and their self-esteem.

As a qualified supervisor I offer supervision for other professionals.
I have a comfortable and private therapy room with easy parking available and disability access.
Client confidentiality is respected at all times.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have worked as a therapist in private practice for many years and in that time I have gained experience of working with clients of all age groups and backgrounds. I have also worked in a counselling service for families, a GP surgery, school, college and university centre.

Debra started seeing my 10 year old daughter due to high levels of anxiety, feeling low and experiencing difficulties controlling her anger. Debra was really calm and kind and they were able to build a really good rapport very quickly. My daughter often commented on her feeling that Debra just "got her". Debra worked with my daughter over a number of months, both face to face and via zoom, both of which worked well. She helped her explore some of the reasons behind her feelings, as well as helping her identify strategies for managing her feelings and behaviour more effectively. My daughter went from being almost constantly on the brink of losing control of her emotions to being generally calm and happy. There has been such a clear improvement in a comparatively short time. I really couldn't recommend Debra enough.

June 2018

Debra was great with my daughter who was suffering from panic attacks and grief. She worked with her steadily and calmly, giving her ways to manage them. She was very much led by my daughter who often didn’t say much and wanted me to sit in on the sessions - not a usual practice! We have certainly seen a huge improvement to how she manages the attacks and that they are not as severe or often. I can not recommend Debra highly enough - thank you Debra!”
