About me

I am a qualified BACP Accredited counsellor with counselling rooms in Harrow, and Hemel Hempstead.  I have a broad experience counselling individuals from a wide range of backgrounds and with diverse needs.

I offer compassion, acceptance and sensitivity while supporting you in exploring the difficulties you are experiencing. My approach is predominantly Person-Centred (although I draw on other theoretical approaches in part and where appropriate).

I will actively listen to you, and encourage you throughout, to help facilitate your individual process.  Through this process, a deeper understanding of yourself may emerge, along with gaining new perspectives, increasing self-worth, and experiencing greater clarity, helping you move forward more confidently.

I offer therapy from 2 locations, and also on-line:

Harrow, Middlesex, HA1

Hemel Hempstead, HP2

What is counselling?

Counselling is a process of personal exploration, examining issues that are causing you difficulty in your life and relationships.

I would be working with you to help identify the roots of your particular difficulty and by increasing your self-awareness about those issues, this can help enable you to move on and flourish in your life.

How could Counselling help?

Counselling / psychotherapy can be a safe place to explore and unravel issues of concern to you. This can help you to overcome long-standing stumbling blocks and to achieve desired changes in your life and relationships.

Is counselling for me?

There are many who have experienced the benefits of counselling to help them with difficulties they are facing in life, as well as in dealing with experiences from their past, which may be impacting on the present.

What can I expect from our first meeting?

Our first meeting will provide the opportunity for me to learn more about your concerns, and for us to discuss what you hope to achieve in your personal counselling.

How long can I expect to be in therapy?

Time limited counselling is offered when you may wish to attend for only a certain amount of sessions (say 10 to 12) in order to focus on a particular issue.

Longer term psychotherapy is offered if you wish to explore and work through deeper issues in a more timely way.

Regular reviews will help identify where we are within the process, but how long the therapy inevitably lasts will be for you to decide.

How long does a counselling session last?

Counselling sessions typically last for 50 minutes to 1 hour, although longer sessions can be arranged if preferred.

How regularly will we meet?

Sessions are generally held on a weekly basis, particularly in the early stages of therapy, but fortnightly sessions may be agreed where appropriate.

How can I make an appointment?

You may contact me by either of the following:

Telephone: 07747 014805 (please leave a brief message, I will return your call as soon as I am able, if not immediately available).

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.
