About me

I am a BACP accredited counsellor/psychotherapist, a qualified professional integrative counsellor, a qualified bereavement counsellor and have trained in CBT and Mindfulness. I additionally trained in the Master Practitioner Skills Award (equivalent to an MA) with the National Centre for Eating Disorders, which is approved by the British Psychological Society.

I work in a GP surgery in Wimpole St, W1, and in an established private practice in Esher. I work with private and corporate clients and have built successful long term working relationships with ex-pat clients using Skype.

Past experience: I have worked in primary care in an NHS GP practice for three years, at Kingston Bereavement Service for four years and Kingston Women's Centre for three years.

Current: In the past eight years to the present date I have a created a successful private practice in Esher and combine this with a role at Wimpole St, where I have worked for five year as part of a multi agency team in a doctor's practice.

About counselling:

The counselling relationship I offer is non-judgemental, warm, supportive, truthful and authentic.

I aim to work with you in a sensitive and respectful way to negotiate through the challenges that life's watersheds present, to resolve unfinished business, or address an immediate and identifiable issue.

I work within a safe and confidential setting supporting you towards well-being. I draw on a range of approaches to help you unravel chaotic feelings and thoughts and find more authentic ways of being, feel in control and choiceful.

I do so by combining body psychotherapy and CBT to enable you to connect thoughts, feelings, and emotions that may feel really difficult to locate on your own. I support you to see what may be an unhelpful belief which is keeping you stuck. I work with mindfulness, an approach which can really change how you think about 'things'.

I aim to help you through sticking points and support you through the unknown and 'why's?' towards greater understanding and acceptance. I work with you to find the key that brings about change in your self that you may be searching for.

I do so by drawing on psychodynamic theory, through which you can identify patterns, gain insight into the way your past is threading through your present, assess what would be more helpful to 'let go' of now, and work with your body and mind processes using body psychotherapy and CBT to help you make connections between the 'then and there' and the 'here and now', supporting you to make different choices, bringing about your change process towards real and lasting personal growth.

Where:

I offer both long and short term counselling for individuals once a week for 50 minutes in a safe professional and confidential setting. An initial assessment may take 60 -75 minutes. I work in private practice in Esher, and at a GP surgery in Wimpole St, W1. I am a registered and approved practitioner with the following insurance companies: Cigna, Aviva, PruHealth, and WPF

I am an accredited member of the British Assocation of Counselling and Psychotherapy and UKRCP bound by their code of ethics.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
