Counsellor Profile

I offer Counselling and Psychotherapy that aims to help you deal with the difficult issues in your life. This can be current problems such as bereavment, relationship breakdown,or other life changes as well as longer term problems such as childhood abuse and emotional difficulties.
I work to help you discover how patterns of behaviour, beliefs and ways of coping developed in your past can cause pain and distress in the present. I work with you to change and help you let go of those things you no longer find useful. I do not analyse you or offer advice but aim to help you develop your own strengths and ways of coping.

I aim to work with you at a pace that suits you. You are in control of what you talk about and when.

I am qualified as a Gestalt Psychotherapist and have training in many other areas including Counselling, Social Work, Family Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Brief and Focal Therapy.

The way that I work draws on all these things and on my wide experience of issues. I have worked as a private Psychotherpist and Counsellor since 1993. Along side this I have worked in Social Work and in the NHS. I currently work in the NHS with patients with anxiety and depression.

I offer a free initial session in which you can meet me and discuss the issues you want to bring.

My experience as a Psychotherapist is wide ranging.I have also worked in Social Work and the NHS working with Adults with Mental Health problems, children and families and children and adults who have been sexually abused.
