Counsellor Profile
I would describe myself as an Integrative Counsellor, Psychotherapist and Supervisor, using a combination of the Person Centred approach with Transactional Analysis and Psychodynamic theoretical models. Basically, this means that I believe it is the Clients themselves who hold the answers to their own questions. What I bring to the relationship is warmth, compassion and genuine respect for the client, and a safe space for them to tell their story. I offer a willingness to share the therapeutic journey with each Client, and to help them to reach the goals they set out for us to achieve. The counselling and psychotherapy theories I use can help the Client to gain some idea of the history of their present day difficulties, and offer a way forward for the Client in terms of re-structuring or re-aligning their perception or view on life. They can help them to return to their original drive towards wholeness and health.

I started my counselling work in 1995, and have since worked in various voluntary and family planning organisations. I have been self-employed since 1998. I also undertake work within the N.H.S., Social Services and Employee Assistance Programmes, and for agencies within the statutory and voluntary sectors. I was a lecturer at Cornwall College for two counselling courses before leaving, in 2005, to set up my own Transactional Analysis training programme. I train people who have expressed an interest in understanding more about the theory of T.A., and for those who wish to be, or who already are, counsellors and psychotherapists. I host continuing professional development workshops for counsellors and psychotherapists in Devon and Cornwall.
