About me

Counselling Therapy for Relationship Issues & Life Transitions - for individuals, couples, adults and young people

Are you looking for some peace from your relationship
struggles?

Are you seeking a way through the change or crisis in your life?

Do you find yourself:

  • Living with feelings of anxiety and depression?
  • Struggling to cope with the effects of a crisis or trauma?
  • At a loss about recurring arguments with your partner or family member?
  • Feeling hurt and hopeless after your relationship ending?
  • Feeling trapped by old and unwanted relationship patterns?
  • Longing for a sense of purpose or direction in your life?

Life's struggles and challenges can sometimes overwhelm you . . .

Life naturally brings challenges and changes and some of these changes you might welcome and work towards - being in a relationship, a rewarding job, creating a home are all things that can bring you feelings of peace and fulfilment.

Sometimes things don't work out as expected and unexpected life changes and crises can turn your world upside down. You are left feeling confused and perhaps hopeless. You find it difficult to make decisions.  You feel out of control and anxious; you might have trouble sleeping - and getting up - everyday life can feel like a struggle.

Couples counselling and individual therapy can help you to find calm and relief from life's difficulties, depressions, struggles and anxiety

"Counselling was crucial in helping me through a difficult time. Helene's
rare ability to crystallise what I felt, along with a deep and genuine
compassion, created a totally accepting space in which I felt heard
and supported in each session." RC, London

I Work With People Who Want To:

  • Feel better in their relationships
  • Find relief from painful feelings and behaviours
  • Show feelings and emotions without hurting themselves or their loved ones
  • Understand more about themselves and their relationships
  • Feel clearer and calmer about the new direction in their life

    . . . and sometimes to

  • Find a way of ending a relationship with the least possible distress

Through counselling therapy, you can: recognise the strength you have that has got you this far; discover new ways of dealing with difficulties; learn more about yourself and what you want out of life; reflect on the choices available to you.

"I found counselling incredibly helpful in many ways. I needed a calm place
in which I could explore difficult feelings and Helene created a non-judgmental
environment where I could explore any thoughts or feelings and learn to notice
& understand patterns I had developed through my life. Helene was calm and
thoughtful & gently helped me in the direction of a better self-realisation." RH

My Approach
I believe that we all have a natural capacity for growth and an ability to discover and release unrealised and unexpected potential, when we are given the opportunity. As a counsellor, I commit to supporting you by accepting you as you truly are, with a warmth and attentiveness that can help to you to gain clarity and understanding, and allow new perspectives to emerge.

"I felt I could share even the most difficult of situations in the totally
non-judgmental and accepting space Helene creates. I really
value her insight which has an accuracy and relevance to it which
reveal her deep level of experience." EN

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
