Profile

I am a counsellor working with young people and adults in Lancaster and Kendal. I work from a Person-centred Integrative perspective to try to offer my clients the way that suits them best, and allows them to develop and grow. Sessions are held in comfortable confidential counselling rooms, or it may be possible to arrange for me to see you in your own home.

I am an experienced and qualified therapist, and a Member of BACP (The British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists). I believe it is very important to work with clients to build a positive and trusting relationship, from where we are able to openly explore any difficulties you may be experiencing. And with support, find a way to help you move beyond this to a more resourceful and better functioning position. I tailor my approach to the needs of my clients. So my clients can get the best and quickest results for them.

Though every person will have their own individual needs, and it is not possible to predict how many sessions someone will want, in my experience, clients can often make significant progress with a course of 6-12 sessions. If a particular client needs more sessions, I am happy to work longer term with clients, but find this is not often needed.

I have an open and understanding nature, and can rapidly build a trusting relationship with clients of any age. I have spent a significant part of my carreer working with adolescents and I myself have a teenage son. I am therefore familiar with the kind of difficulties encountered by young poeple and those supporting them, as well as the wide range of problems which may be faced by adults.

Training, Qualifications & Experience

My counselling qualifications include a BA (Hons) in Counselling Studies from the College of York St John, a diploma in Person-Centred Counselling, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling Children and Young People. I have also trained as a Bereavement Counsellor, and undertaken training in Crisis and Trauma Counselling, addiction counselling, working with self-harm and online counselling.

At this present time, I work as an NHS counsellor in the Blackpool area, working with clients on whatever issues they may choose to bring. I also work with a local Bereavement charity, where I help clients work with loss issues. I have previously worked with CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services) amongst other organisations, and I have a wide range of experience in the counselling field.
