Trisha P Packer, MBACP(Snr.Accred) Counselling & Supervision
My name is Trisha Packer, and I work as a Person-Centred Integrative Counsellor, with couples, individuals and young people.I aim to help you explore and examine any problems or difficulties you may have, and then work with you to help you overcome any obstacles to achieving what you want and need to become the very best that you can be. I have an open and accepting nature, and can rapidly build a trusting relationship with clients of any age. I have extensive experience of working with both Yong People and Adults, and have a good understanding of the range of problems people can be facing and choose to bring to counselling.
I am a Senior Accredited BACP Counsellor, which means that the BACP have assessed my qualifications and experience to be of a higher standard. I am based in Dalton-in-Furness, and there is on street parking available. I am also close to good public transport routes, both bus and train.
I work from a Person-Centred Integrative perspective - meaning I will use whatever works for my clients - and tailor my approach to a particular client's needs, thus enabling them to develop and grow, and get the best results in the shortest possible time. I offer a FREE initial consultation, as I believe the relationship between client and counsellor is very important, and it is only by engaging with each other that we can assess the strength of this. I will then aim to work with clients to achieve a positive and trusting relationship, from where we are able to openly explore whatever difficulties you may be experiencing, and with my support, help you to find a way to help you move beyond these to a more resourceful and better functioning position.
Every person will have their own individual needs, and it is not possible to predict how many sessions someone will want. But in my experience, clients can often make significant progress within 6-12 sessions. But for very complex difficulties, more sessions may be required, and I am happy to work longer term with clients if this is needed.
If for any reason you are not able to attend my office, I also offer on-line counselling using Skype (similar to a video phone call), or telphone counselling. I aim for this to provide you with the same trusting and open relationship, and for you to feel free and comfortable using this. We would also be bound by the same confidentiality as you could expect if we were to meet face-to-face. Please contact me if you would like to discuss this further.
Training, qualifications & experience
My counselling qualifications include a BA(Hons) in Counselling Studies, a diploma in Person-Centred Counselling, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling Children and Young People. I have also trained in Bereavement Counselling, Couple Counselling, Crisis and Trauma Counselling, Addiction Counselling Working with Self-Harm and Online Counselling. I have a special interest in Bereavement work, and working with Self-Harm/Eating Disorders.
I have previously worked with CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services). I currently work part-time as a counsellor in the NHS. I have a wide range of experience in working with all kinds of problems and issues but I view everyone as an individual and prefer to work with the whole client, rather than trying to label them, or their problems.
