Counsellor Profile
I have been a practising therapist for several years and I run a successful private counselling practice in Up Hatherley, Cheltenham.
I am qualified as a practising member of the Foundation for Emotional Therapy which is a registered charity and affiliated to the British Complementary Medicine Association. I abide by its Code of Conduct and Ethics and I am committed to providing a safe and confidential environment for my clients. I receive regular supervision in order to maintain a high level of competence. I also engage in continual professional development.
I understand how difficult it can be, particularly in times of stress, to make the first contact with a therapist. I believe it is very important that you feel comfortable with your chosen therapist and I therefore offer a no obligation free initial consultation. This will last approximately 30-40 minutes and will provide you with an opportunity to find out more about Emotional Therapy.
Training, Qualifications & Experience (more info)
Emotional therapy is a form of counselling which helps you to explore your life and look more deeply at the things that have happened. Rather than just using the mind to analyse experiences and symptoms, it seeks to understand and help you work through any emotions which may have been suppressed and therefore promotes healing of the original emotional wounds. The things you want to explore may be recent or from the past. A key aspect of Emotional Therapy is the range of optional techniques used to assist you to both recognise and release painful feelings and emotions in an appropriate manner. It uses your own natural creativity thus empowering you and bringing greater self-knowledge and personal strength from which you can more effectively cope and enrich your life.
Feelings and emotions ranging from anger, guilt, fear, resentment, loss and grief, low self-esteem and self-worth, which may manifest in ill-health, relationship problems, confusion, physical, emotional and mental stress. All of these things can be helped by Emotional Therapy.
