Counsellor ProfileWelcome to my page.
I hope that I can assist you in choosing a counsellor who will be able to meet your needs. I’m aware, from personal experience, that finding the right counsellor can be a daunting task.
I originally came into counselling after working with families for more than 16 years. This also included caring for my own family. I was frequently being asked for advice and emotional support of some kind so I decided to switch careers and work as a counsellor professionally.
I originally met my colleague, Eve Stephenson, at college and we now run our own private practice called Care To Listen. Care To Listen came about through our desire and vision to make counselling more accessible and affordable to those who really need it, even if that means making home visits to the elderly and those who are housebound due to their circumstances.
I believe that each person should be treated as an individual and it is my hope that they feel comfortable and safe enough to be able to share with me their issues and concerns without feeling that they are being judged or criticised.
I am able to work with individuals, couples and groups and can offer both short and long term sessions. Each session lasts 50 minutes and I normally see clients on a weekly basis, I can be flexible about this in some circumstances.
The first session is usually an assessment where I aim to find out as much about your reasons for seeking counseling as I can. This helps me to form an idea of the most appropriate model of counselling to use. This is also an opportunity for us to decide if we would feel comfortable working together.
Following the initial session I would arrange for us to meet at the same time each week.
I usually see clients in one of Care To Listen’s counselling rooms but will consider home visits if you prefer and if the environment is conducive to counselling.
Please contact me by e mail or telephone, if you would like any more information about counselling or would like to arrange an appointment.
I look forward to hearing from you
