Counsellor ProfileI am a U.K.C.P registered Psychotherapist currently working in private practice. During the past 10 years I have worked with many people with varied and complex issues. I have a particular interest in eating disorders having worked at an Eating Disorder Charity for six years as a therapist and group facilitator.
As part of my service I offer a 16-20 week Guided Self-Help programme based on Cognitive Behavioural and other approaches for particular types of eating problems including Bulimia, Binge Eating Disorder and Anorexia. The programme is based on N.I.C.E guidelines and recommended as a suitable form of therapy for particular types of Eating Distress.
More recently I worked at the University as a student counsellor supporting young people through this very important life transition. Our work together included time management, dealing with stress, developing the notion of self-care and coping with isolation.
I have worked privately for the past five years and gained additional experience in the following areas: Bereavement from suicide, coping with terminal illness and spiritual crisis. I trained in Core Process Psychotherapy, a mindfulness based psychotherapy tradition based on eastern and western psychology. The practice of mindfulness continues to support my work on an everyday basis.
I work with clients in a way that suits their autonomy which may range from a very gentle approach to a more challenging approach depending on individual need and previous life experiences.
In addition to my psychotherapy practice I currently lecture on the Higher Level Counselling Courses at the local College.
