Counsellor Profile
Welcome, my name is Jan Murray and I am a qualifed professional counsellor offering counselling to both couples and individuals.
Sometimes life becomes really hard and challenging and we find ourselves struggling to cope. It can be because of a major life event such as a bereavement or it can be for what appears to be a trivial reason. Our ability to cope seems to disappear even if we are lucky enough to have family and friends around us we feel unable to burden them with our problems and of course the issues sometimes involve them. We feel isolated and alone with our confusion and need to share with someone. The hope is that no matter what you are currently going through you will never feel that you have to cope alone.
My aim is to provide a "safe space" where there is warmth, acceptance and an understanding of the issues presented. My hope is that you will feel comfortable enough to be yourself and that together we can explore any concerns you may be experiencing.
Counselling cannot make decisions for you but it can help give you the emotional strength needed to discover how you feel about yourself and help to make sense of your world and where you fit into it.
Undertaking a course of counselling may be the way forward as it is confidential and no issue is dismissed as too minor or deemed too big. Couple counselling is for any two people e.g. husband/wife, same sex partners, mother/daughter, father/son or sibling relationships.
I am located at the beautiful Prested Hall in Feering where the surroundings are peaceful, warm and inviting. Sessions are held in the library room which is a comfortable, homely environment within a listed building. It is conveniently located just off the A12, a mile from Kelvedon Station and centrally positioned between the Colchester, Chelmsford and Witham areas. There is also ample parking available which is free.
