Counsellor Profile
For all new clients I offer the first session at a reduced rate of £15 . I am a fully qualified Integrative Counsellor and member of the BACP(British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy). I have been trained in several distinct models of Counselling and Psychotherapy such as Person centred, TA, CBT and Gestalt.
As a counsellor I am trained to listen attentively and not pass judgement on my clients. I will help the client to explore their concerns using diffferent theories and techniques . I will also help the client make sense of anything that might be affecting them. Should the client wish to make any changes in their life I will support the client in making those changes. I must emphasise that as a Counsellor I am not able to give advice.
I am a very warm, empathic, genuine and approachable person. These qualities I feel help a counselling relationship. As a counsellor I am very respectful of my client and my main focus at all time is my client's needs. I will endevour to create a space in which the client feels comfortable and confident enough to talk and to explore the reasons that have brought them into counselling. The reasons for coming to counselling do not have to be present. Often experiences from the past if not dealt with can have an impact on our day to day lives. Counselling can be short term or long term. The client does not have to commit to a set number of sessions.
------------------------------------
Counselling is often referred to as "The talking therapy" I am a firm believer that verbalising what is going on in our our lives is the first step in healing , accepting and moving on. Having had my own personal therapy I understand counselling on both sides of the coin..as a Counsellor and also as a Client.
