Counsellor Profile

I am a BACP Accredited Psychodynamic Counsellor and a UKCP Registered Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist. I trained for several years with the Westminster Pastoral Foundation in Kensington and had personal therapy prior to and for the duration of the course. I have worked in private practice for over 20 years and have also had experience as a Primary Care Counsellor within the NHS.

In addition, I am a BACP Registered Supervisor and offer supervision to counsellors and trainees.

In my private practice I work with both individuals and couples, and vary the intensity and focus of the work according to clients’ needs. I usually work in an open-ended way, offering clients a safe place to make sense of current difficulties and also exploring the various ways in which these may link with past experiences.

I also offer time-limited counselling, drawing on my training and experience in brief solution-focused therapy. Here the work may be more specific in its aims, and involves working towards a goal within a framework of an agreed number of sessions.

Extra Information

I have a particular interest in working with young people, which developed from my many years as a lecturer and pastoral tutor in higher education. I have also had considerable experience in working with couples with relationship difficulties.

I adhere to the BACP, UKCP and FPC Codes of Ethics.

I hold Public Liability and Professional Indemnity insurance.
