About me

I am an BACP accredited counsellor and psychotherapist with twelve years experience. Finding the right counsellor/therapist is perhaps the most important step in beginning to address the issues that you may be experiencing. This is often challenging since you are faced with many choices and 'theoretical jargon' that may be confusing for you. I would suggest that you make an initial consultation with me and this meeting will give you the opportunity to begin to talk about what is troubling you. It will also give me the chance to really listen and sense if I may be of help to you.  If you do feel that I am the right counsellor then we can plan accordingly.

How I work

I have been working in private practice as a psychotherapist and counsellor for over 7 years. I offer short and long term psychotherapy/counselling to individuals and I am qualified and experienced to work with all emotional and psychological issues, for example, depression, relationship issues and anxiety. I am commited to providing psychotherapy and counselling in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment.

My professional practice adopts an integrative approach to counselling and psychotherapy in order to meet your unique individual needs. This means that I try to help you understand and deal with your emotional, personal and relationship difficulties from various psychological perspectives and in a more empowering and creative way.  Making more sense of your current situation and the feelings and thoughts evoked by these circumstances often involves gaining greater awareness of how your past can still be presenting itself negatively in your present experiences. Such insights can help begin to alleviate your emotional suffering and promote personal growth. Counselling also involves deciding on appropriate changes in your life and taking effective action in order to implement these changes so that your life may be more fulfilling.

I offer a warm, sensitive and empathetic therapeutic relationship where you will feel secure, valued and accepted with your concerns and issues being genuinely heard and understood. This helps to promote positive emotional growth and change enabling you to reconnect with your true nature giving your life more direction, purpose and meaning.

I am an accredited member of the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists MBACP (Accred) and on the BACP Register for Counsellors and Psychotherapists. This organisation requires a strict ethical code of practice ensuring confidentiality and respect for client individuality.

Transpersonal, childhood issues

Each counselling/psychotherapy session is one hour. The cost per hour for a day time session (8am to 5pm) is £30 and the fee for an evening session is £40 (5pm to 8pm).

It is usual to organise an initial meeting. One of the most important aspects of this type of work is for you to feel comfortable with me. This initial meeting gives you the opportunity to begin to discuss your concerns and for me to give a little more detail about how I work. It also allows you to decide whether I am the therapist for you.

Previously I was a teacher for 20 years educating children and young people with severe and multiple learning disabilities. This experience has provided a solid foundation for me working as a therapist.
