About me

I continue to work mainly online (Skype / FaceTime) and by phone. Please enquire.

I'm a fully qualified and registered psychotherapist with many years experience of helping people to make changes in their lives. I've had a counselling practice in Manchester since 1996.

I work with people facing a wide variety of personal issues - see the list below for some examples of the kind of experiences I can help you with. An initial telephone appointment with me lasting around 20 minutes is free of charge.

You might decide to come to counselling to address experiences which hold you back from fully enjoying and living life in the way you'd like. This could be connected to present-day personal matters or work-related problems. Maybe the difficulties date back to earlier trauma which still causes you distress or has a negative impact on your relationships.

Counselling gives you time and opportunity to reflect on how you want to make changes in your life and do this with support, instead of on your own.

In addition to counselling adults, I have over thirty years' experience of working with young people. Until 2016 I ran a counselling service in an inner-city high school.

I'm an experienced and qualified supervisor of counsellors and therapists, including those who specialise in supporting children and young people. I contribute to counsellor training programmes in the UK and abroad.

I'm registered with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and I abide by their code of ethics.

UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
