About me

Hello, and thank you for taking the time to read my profile.

I am an Integrative Counsellor with 17 years experience. Integrative simply means that I may use more than one particular form of therapy to support you depending on what your issues are. I believe that there is no such thing as a "one size fits all" mode of therapy as we are all so uniquely different.  I am fully insured, and a registered member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy). I have worked in voluntary organisations, family centres, schools, and spent 14 years in a therapy role within the NHS.

On a more personal note.......

I love gardening and growing my own veggies. I find a lot of peace exploring the natural world and I believe that nature is a great support to us all in our healing. I love animals and have kept everything from chickens to guinea pigs over the years. I enjoy nature walks with my dog "Blue".  I enjoy to cook simple food and have an interest in foraging for wild foods that nature offers us for free. I enjoy exploring holistic therapies alongside mainstream psychological techniques. I believe that as humans,  we all seek connection,  peace and contentment in life. I hope I may be able to support you on your journey.

I offer both daytime and evening appointments, Tuesday to Friday. I work from a comfortable room in my home in Widnes, Cheshire.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

Sometimes life can present us with difficult experiences that can leave us feeling lost, confused, and unable to find a way forward. Its not always easy to make the decision to seek help, especially from someone who is a complete stranger, no matter what professional assurances they offer.

To reach out for help is act of courage, not defeat, a new beginning, not a last hope.

You can contact me via email or telephone, which I may not always be able to answer if I'm working, but if you leave a message on my voicemail or send a text/whatsapp message I will contact you as soon as I can.
