It can be difficult to take the first steps to make contact with a counsellor. I hope the information provided here will encourage you to make contact with me so we can discuss how I can help.
People come to counselling with a wide range of personal, emotional and relationship difficulties. There are times in many people's lives when they feel unable to cope. They may be feeling of depressed or anxious, or even that they are not reaching their full potential in life. Sometimes people simply feel their lives are too superficial and they wish to gain deeper understanding of themselves.
But we often don't see getting help with psychological problems in the same light as we do solving other health issues or life challenges and we might worry that we will be labelled weak or mentally ill if we seek out help, or we may be concerned that friends or work colleagues will find out and gossip (when in reality a number of those friends and colleagues will have sought help for themselves). And we may not be sure how to get the best qualified person to help us. In addition, we may have a fear of unlocking deep feelings without the support there to deal with the consequences.
I can help with your emotional issues. I am a qualified and experienced counselling psychologist with many years' experience in different settings. I provide both short and long term counselling and psychological therapy to clients with a wide range of presenting problems.
I am trained in a variety of psychological therapies, including person-centered therapy, psychodynamic therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy. I have recently introduced EMDR (eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing) into my practice for helping with anxiety, disturbing life experiences, post traumatic stress (PTSD) and phobias. I aim to work together with my clients in a collaborative way that is best suited to their needs and I believe in treating every client as an individual.
