About me

Are you experiencing difficult feelings such as anxiety, depression, anger, stress, panic attacks, low self-esteem; sometimes finding that relationships keep falling into the same unfulfilling pattern?  Perhaps finding that intense feelings can be triggered by a seemingly insignificant event? Or maybe a feeling of just not knowing what to do for the best?

If we can understand and make sense of why we feel the way we do or why our relationships are the way they are then we can begin to lead a life where we are more comfortable with ourselves and in turn find life more fulfilling.  With over twenty years’ experience in helping people find that understanding I aim to create a safe, comfortable and secure environment where you can talk, be heard in complete confidence and feel supported.

I usually offer once weekly 50 minute sessions though if we feel it would be helpful we can arrange twice weekly sessions.  Our interactive therapeutic relationship will be unique to you.  I aim to offer you the opportunity to understand why you feel the way you do and make sense and understanding of what may previously have felt incomprehensible. To feel better about yourself and move to a life that feels more satisfying.

Sessions are either online or face to face.  I hold face to face sessions in Islington in a purpose-built suite of therapy rooms offering a calm environment just across the road from Angel station.

Training, qualifications & experience

I'm Accredited by the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy and Registered by the British Psychoanalytic Council and am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and the Foundation for Psychotherapy and Counselling and am bound by their ethics codes.

Having completed a rigorous 5 year training I am qualified as both a counsellor and psychotherapist with wpf Therapy, one of the most prestigious therapy organisations.  For seven years I managed a charitable counselling agency in Hertfordshire.

As part of my commitment to quality and professionalism I am committed to ongoing professional and personal development and regularly attend professional seminars.

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BPC
British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC)

The British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) is a professional association, representing the profession of psychoanalytic psychotherapy.

The organisation is itself made up of fourteen member organisations and BPC accredits the trainings of its member organisations. An individual who qualifies from one of these trainings is then eligible for entry into the BPC's register.

BPC registrants are governed by a code of ethics, a policy of continuing professional development, a statement on confidentiality and a complaints procedure. The BPC is a Member Society of the European Federation for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy in the Public Sector (EFPP). Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

UKCP
UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
