People still can't talk about mental health
Revealing you suffer from a mental health problem is still one of the hardest things to admit, reports the Guardian today.
A new survey of 2000 people showed that 30% would find it difficult to admit they had a mental health condition, compared to 20% who said they would find it difficult to tell people they were gay.
The study was commissioned by Time for Change, a group of mental health charities and the Institute of Psychiatry with financial backing from the Big Lottery Fund and Comic Relief, which aims to reduce mental health discrimination by 5% by 2012.
The survey also revealed that a third of participants felt that someone with a mental health condition couldn’t do a job in a position of responsibility.
